Micro-Preemie Twins in 2020

Thank you to all our supporters and family that joined us for the rollarcoaster ride that began on the 3rd March 2020 when full time minister Deborah-Anne Velthysen went into pre-term labor 4 months before her due-date. Pregnant with twins and away from home, she and her husband Michael embarked on a journey like no other.

In the midst of the pandemic and fighting for the lives of their little twins we experienced both victories and losses. Each day the twins progressed, we rejoiced, but there were many challenges along the way. We prayed through little David as he made it through complicated intestine surgery. We fasted and prayed for little Victoria who was the youngest of the two and whose lungs could not mature fast enough for her growth.

Needing to remain close to the NICU, everyone gathered round and supported as a family should! God opened doors for them to stay in a room close-by and everyone else rallied around raising finances for food, clothing, gas and basic living expenses.

Our journey together was bittersweet. The day after Deborah-Anne’s first mothers day and at just over 2 months old, little Victoria could not fight any longer. As her organs began to shut down, her parents held her for the last time and kissed her goodbye,

With David still needing attention and care, you were an amazing support! Together we made a miracle! Enough finances were raised, to not only support this incredible young couple, but we were also able to provide them with their own vehicle that they will soon be able to take their son home in!

When we put ourselves in a position to be used of God to bring about miracles, what you do not anticipate are the hearts you will heal and the lives you will reach in the process.

We would also like to send a special and heartfelt thank you to Dr Coughlin and the entire staff of Mary Birch Women’s Hospital. They worked beyond the call of duty to try and save Victoria and their continued investment into David is exemplary. We as W Team and all our supporters are counting down the days to when David can finally go home.

This experience has certainly changed us all and we are both honored and blessed to have you alongside us!
