How To Prepare Yourself For Transition
I was dumbstruck when my Apostle asked me to write a blog about my transition to full-time ministry. I had no idea what to write. I knew my journey, but how could I put it in words and sound interesting?
It's not the first time I experienced a transition, but this time it felt different. I had questions.
"11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not evil, to give you a future and a hope." - Jeremiah 29:11
Here are three signs that prove you're in transition.
Sign 1: You Have More Questions Than Answers
The weeks before the shift were pure hell.
I felt like the whole world wanted a piece of me. The demands before me were like Jericho's wall. I felt challenged.
I had lots of questions.
What's going on?
How can I balance my home, ministry, and job?
Should I quit my job?
But how do I pay my bills?
I wanted to do more but felt restricted!
Sign 2: You Feel Restricted
Driving home was a prayer closet.
I cried like the blind man in Luke 18:39. "God, please have mercy on me! I don't know what to do. You called and positioned me, and I want to do more for you. But I feel trapped!"
I was a Member Service Representative at a Credit union, where I loved to serve. But I also loved Toach Ministries International and what they stood for. I wanted to invest my time in this fertile soil. There were not enough hours in a day. So I worked late nights. But I soon burnt out.
I needed help!
Sign 3: Get Desperate To Facilitate The Change!
One night, I cried to the Lord, "I need help!"
As the tears streamed down my cheek, I heard my father's still, small voice. I felt a sense of peace.
He said, "You have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many". I closed my eyes and soaked in His presence. "I have called you to the marketplace."
Huh?
I stopped crying. That was not the answer I was looking for. With great restraint, I submitted.
The Change
We always think we know God's plan. But His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.
My phone buzzed, and I saw Apostles Craig and Colette Toach's name pop up.
I braced myself. "Dad and I want you to work full-time for Toach Ministries."
Wait, What!
Screaming, I said Yes!
